This role contributes to Starbucks’ success by ensuring the efficient and cost-effective movement of products across the supply chain. The Transportation Analyst II supports transportation operations by developing and executing shipment plans that meet internal customer requirements while managing the flow of goods to end-user customers and inbound to distribution centers. This position is responsible for coordinating with transportation providers and third-party operators to ensure timely deliveries, accurate administration, and performance monitoring of transportation services. The analyst leads cross-functional transportation improvement initiatives aimed at reducing logistics costs, enhancing operational processes, and delivering exceptional customer service. Operating across multiple sites, this role plays a key part in driving continuous improvement and operational excellence within Starbucks’ supply chain.
As a transportation analyst II, you will…
- Analyze transportation and logistics data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for cost savings.
- Execute daily shipment planning and execution of tasks aligned with the operational workflow and service expectations of the role.
- Collaborate with carriers, 3PLs, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.
- Participate in a rotational weekend on-call schedule to support transportation operations and ensure business continuity.
- Communicate proactively with internal stakeholders on shipment or vendor issues.
- Support cross-functional projects to enhance company performance.
- Lead initiatives to optimize routing, mode selection, and carrier performance.
- Support strategic planning, including network design, freight forecasting, and budget development.
- Manage freight payment and manual invoice processes.
- Analyze carrier and vendor performance to identify service gaps and recommend improvements.
- Report on key performance indicators (daily, weekly, monthly).
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of data from vendors and third-party providers.
- Deliver ad-hoc reporting and analysis to support KPI improvement initiatives.
- Provide support for transportation carrier selections from annual RFPs and mini-bids.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across transportation operations.
- Prepare reports and presentations for senior leadership with actionable insights and recommendations.
- Stay current on industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
